Here’s a ready-to-use teaching script for conducting a class on writing skills.
It’s structured for a 60–90 minute session and can be adapted for creative writing, academic writing, or scriptwriting.
Teaching Script: Introduction to Writing Skills
1. Opening (5 minutes)
Teacher says:
“Welcome, everyone! Today, we’re going to explore the art and craft of writing. Writing is more than putting words on paper — it’s about expressing ideas clearly, engaging your audience, and creating impact.”

2. Warm-Up Activity (10 minutes)

- Rules: No erasing, no overthinking — just write.

3. Mini-Lesson: The Writing Process (15 minutes)
Teacher explains:
- Prewriting – Brainstorming, outlining, and gathering ideas.

- Revising – Improving structure, clarity, and flow.
- Editing – Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Publishing – Sharing your work.

4. Skill Focus: Clarity & Engagement (15 minutes)
Teacher says:
“Good writing is clear, concise, and engaging. Let’s look at three tips:”
- Use specific details instead of vague words.
Bad: “The food was nice.”
Better: “The pasta was creamy, with a hint of garlic and fresh basil.” - Vary sentence length for rhythm.
- Show, don’t tell — use sensory language.
Mini Exercise: Rewrite a dull sentence to make it vivid.
5. Guided Practice (15–20 minutes)
Activity: Paragraph Challenge
- Choose a topic from a list (e.g., “A day at the beach,” “My favourite invention”).
- Write one paragraph using today’s tips.
- Pair up and read aloud to a partner for feedback.
6. Sharing & Feedback (10 minutes)
Teacher says:
“Let’s hear a few examples. Remember, feedback should be constructive — focus on what works well and one suggestion for improvement.”
7. Wrap-Up & Homework (5 minutes)
Teacher says:
“Today, you learned the writing process and practiced making your writing more vivid. For homework, expand your paragraph into a one-page piece, applying the same techniques.”
