Story time

Mami, can I have a story?

Go see Baba; he has all the stories!

Baba?! Story, please?!

A story, eh? You remember the pool outside? I used to swim there when I was younger. Let me tell you a story about how to drink from a stream, from the book of GOD:

There was a man by the name of Gideon, who defended his people from the Midianites, an evil people who worshipped idols instead of our one true god. He went with his men and told those who were frightened to leave and go home. After all, it was scary. They could be hurt! Many left, so he carried on to a river, where they could drink. The men drank, some like animals, putting their faces in the water and mud like a dog, camel, sheep, cow, or goat does. That’s horrible! We’re humans, right, Aisha?

Yes, Baba.

So how do we drink? No, not like the dog does.

“Am I a dog?”

Like this, with a cup or bowl,…

“Thank you, my wife!

or, if we lack those, with our cupped hands.

Drinking.

Some of Gideon’s men drank like animals. Gideon sent them home as they were unable to control themselves. The rest? A brave three hundred went with Gideon. They defeated the evil and saved their people! The moral of the story is: control yourself, control your enemy and win.

Do you want another story?

Yes! Baba!

In the Book of GOD, there’s a story of David before he became the greatest king ever! When he was a boy. He believed in GOD, and he was brave and true. He guarded his sheep against the wolf and the bandit, so they were not taken away by evil.

So the evil people hated Israel, the land of David, and they wanted to take away all the children for themselves, away from their parents!

Oh, no!

As well as other things, too, like your doll. They were mean and cruel. So they faced Israel across a field, the valley of Elah; they had a giant in their army, and the men of Israel were afraid to face them.

A giant of frightening appearance!

That giant man was called Goliath, and he was skilled in battle, a real menace who had easily scared away the men of Israel by himself!

Oooo!

Yes, scary!

Time for bed, Aisha!

The wind blows, the papers ruffle and expose ERV 1 Samuel 17.
