Corruption

There are a large number of Bible verses about financial crimes:

Exodus 23:8 – “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous.”
Deuteronomy 16:19 – “Do not pervert justice… do not accept a bribe.”
Psalm 26:10 – The wicked have “right hands… full of bribes.”
Proverbs 17:23 – “A wicked man takes a covert bribe to subvert justice.”
Isaiah 1:23 – Leaders “all love bribes… they do not defend the fatherless.”
Amos 5:12 – “You afflict the righteous and take bribes.”
Micah 3:11 – Leaders “judge for a bribe… priests teach for a price.”
Matthew 28:12–15 – Priests bribe the soldiers to lie about Jesus’ resurrection.
Acts 24:26 – Governor Felix hopes Paul will offer him a bribe.

Proverbs 10:2 – “Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit.”
Proverbs 15:27 – “He who is greedy for unjust gain brings trouble on his household.”
Isaiah 33:15 – The righteous “rejects gain from extortion.”
Jeremiah 22:17 – Hearts are “set on dishonest gain… extortion and oppression.”
Ezekiel 22:12 – “You extort your neighbours by greed.”
Micah 7:3 – Officials “ask for a bribe… they weave injustice together.”
1 Timothy 6:10 – “he love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”
James 5:4 – Withholding wages is a sin that “cries out” to God.

Leviticus 19:15 – “Do not pervert justice… judge your neighbour fairly.”
Isaiah 5:23 – They “acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of justice.”
Amos 5:12 – Bribery leads to turning aside the needy at the gate.

Ezekiel 22:12 – “You take bribes to shed blood; you take interest and profit and make gain of your neighbours by extortion.”
Jeremiah 22:17 – Leaders are condemned for “dishonest gain… extortion and oppression.”

1 Samuel 12:3 – Samuel asks if he ever took a bribe; the people affirm his integrity.
Micah 3:11 – Leaders, priests, and prophets are condemned for taking money to twist truth.
