  • “Do not repay anyone evil for evil.” (Romans 12:17)
  • “Vengeance is Mine, says the Lord.” (Romans 12:19)
  • “Love your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44)

The NT shifts justice from family-based retaliation to state authority (Romans 13:1–4) and divine judgment.
