A Time to Rest
Today we worked hard, and now we enjoy the fruit of that labour – just as Scripture says, ‘A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their toil, for this is from the hand of God.’ So tonight we give thanks for the work of our hands, the food before us, the drink that gladdens the heart, and the God who gives joy in all of it.
A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment?
