Koran 5:90-93

5:90 O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.

91 Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer.

So will you not desist?

92 And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware.

And if you turn away – then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification.

93 There is not upon those who believe and do righteousness [any] blame concerning what they have eaten [in the past] if they [now] fear Allah and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear Allah and believe, and then fear Allah and do good; and Allah loves the doers of good.

Koran 5:90-93

Muhammad, ad nauseam: “who have believed”. Read, O you who have believed.

Muhammad spoke about Allah in the third person. This means this passage is not the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah. Thus, Allah is false, imaginary, and fictional, which means Islamic doctrine and Islam are nonsensical and false.

Notice that gambling and diving arrows contradict Islamic Fate, as does Muhammad forbidding these and more to Muslims.

Also, notice that Muhammad doesn’t give a reason for his forbidding of these acts, except that he thinks Satan tempts you with these acts. Here are the rational reasons why:

  • Don’t be intoxicated. Intoxication causes you to lose control of yourself;
  • Don’t gamble. Gambling wastes your money and assets, despite short-term gain;
  • Don’t sacrifice. This wastes your assets on an imaginary god that does nothing;
  • Don’t use divining arrows. This wastes your life on bad and irrational choices;
  • Don’t pray to idols like Allah. This wastes your life on lies and nonsense.

Muhammad demonstrates he’s divine and lazy with: “then know that upon Our Messenger is only [the responsibility for] clear notification.” Worse, Muhammad shows that he thinks the end of days will come in his lifetime. Muhammad was unaware that he will die and the end of days never came. Muhammad has been dead for 1400 years. No clear notification from Allah at all. This shows that Allah is imaginary, fictional, incoherent and false, and Islamic doctrine and Islam are false and nonsensical.

How quickly Muhammad forgets: “intoxicants” and “concerning what they have eaten [in the past]”. Intoxicants in Muhammad’s time were drunk. They were alcoholic drinks made from dates, grapes, honey (and other foods). The word “eaten” should be “drank”. This imperfection shows that these are not the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah.

For more, see Koran 16:66-67.

Worse, what about coffee? Obviously not available at the time of Muhammad, coffee is both drunk and eaten, it’s a stimulant, and used by Sufi Muslims. Note the contradictions inherent here with this passage and with some Islamic scholars:

Topik writes that locals used it as a sacrament in communal ceremonies and to keep up energy and blunt hunger during hunting treks.

Some stories even credited Muhammad and the Archangel Gabriel for bringing the drink to the earth.

Topik writes that it held obvious appeal for people who avoided alcohol, particularly during late-night Ramadan celebrations. But some religious scholars objected, concerned about its medicinal properties and convinced by interpretations of the Koran that warned against its use.

How Coffee Went from a Mystical Sacrament to an Everyday Drink

Note that Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5:90 shows that this passage is an abrogation of earlier passages:

There were three stages to prohibiting Khamr (intoxicants). When the Messenger of Allah migrated to Al-Madinah, the people were consuming alcohol and gambling, so they asked the Messenger of Allah about these things, Allah revealed, [2:219]…

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5:90

So they went on drinking intoxicants until one day, one of the emigrants lead his companions in the Maghrib prayer and mixed up the Ayat in his recitation. Thereafter, Allah sent down a tougher statement, [4:43]…

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5:90

Then, the people would drink before the time of the prayer so that they would attend the prayer while sober. A firmer Ayah was later revealed, […in this passage 5:90-93].

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5:90

Later, some people said, “O Allah’s Messenger! Some people died in the cause of Allah, while some others died in their beds, but they used to drink alcohol and indulge in gambling, which Allah has made a Rijs of the work of Shaytan.” So Allah sent down,… [the latter part of this passage].

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5:90

And if you bother to look, you’ll see there’s more abrogation nonsense in the Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 5:90.

Muhammad is incoherent: “And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware” and: “fear Allah and believe and do righteous deeds, and then fear Allah and believe, and then fear Allah and do good; and Allah loves the doers of good.” Here’s what Muhammad is ordering: “obey”, “fear” & “believe” Allah, and “obey”, “beware [fear]” & “believe” Muhammad [Messenger]. This shows that Allah is inside Muhammad’s head, an imaginary and false god, who is fictional and incoherent with reality, showing that Islamic doctrine is false, thus Islam is false and nonsensical.

The repeated abrogation about something as simple as “Don’t be drunk!” shows the stupidity and laziness of Muhammad, meaning that Allah is imaginary, fictional and false, that Islamic doctrine is nonsense, and Islam is false. So, the best replacement for this passage is: “”, the empty sentence.
