Koran 2:240-242

2:240 And those who are taken in death among you and leave wives behind – for their wives is a bequest: maintenance for one year without turning [them] out.

But if they leave [of their own accord], then there is no blame upon you for what they do with themselves in an acceptable way. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.

241 And for divorced women is a provision according to what is acceptable – a duty upon the righteous.

242 Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you might use reason.

Koran 2:240-242

According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 2:240, these verses are abrogated, not by later verses, but by earlier verses in Koran 2:234:

The majority of the scholars said that this Ayah (2:240) was abrogated by the Ayah (2:234)

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 2:240
Forget this picture, these verses, was ever here.

Note that abrogation doesn’t delete. These verses, these MISTAKES, are still here for all to see. And if you’re a Muslim who has memorised Koran, you remember these verses, right? Thus you are superior to Allah, who claims he made you forget these verses, while you clearly remember them.

The irony: “Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you might use reason.” Abrogation shows that Allah doesn’t think ahead, can’t plan, doesn’t have omniscience and isn’t wise. Instead, the foolishness of Muhammad is revealed. Thus the best replacement for this passage is to erase it and make it forgotten as Muhammad intends by abrogation. Failing that, the best replacement is: “”, the empty sentence.
