There is no blame upon you for that to which you [indirectly] allude concerning a proposal to women or for what you conceal within yourselves.
Allah knows that you will have them in mind.
But do not promise them secretly except for saying a proper saying.
And do not determine to undertake a marriage contract until the decreed period reaches its end.
And know that Allah knows what is within yourselves, so beware of Him.
And know that Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.
Koran 2:235
Muhammad spoke about Allah in the third person. This means this passage is not the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah. Thus, Allah is false, imaginary, and fictional, which means Islamic doctrine and Islam are nonsensical and false.
Notice the three run-on sentences, starting with “And”.
Trust Muhammad to make engagement so complicated, while again threatening lovers with the anger of imaginary Allah. Engagement is simply a period where the man and the woman interact with each other in public (not in private), to see if they “click” and fit together for life as a married couple.

Note that the complications of Muhammad’s process are also used to cover Islamic prostitution, a practice that comes from pagan polytheistic sex cults.
The process of friendship, engagement and then marriage, reduces failed marriages, divorce and unwanted children. This process is also related to unification, a core concept of Islam, called Tawhid. Simply by allowing friendship, engagement and then marriage, Muhammad could have illustrated Tawhid and made Islam so much better for both men and women. So the best replacement for this verse is: “”, the empty sentence.
