2:217 They ask you about the sacred month – about fighting therein.
Say, “Fighting therein is great [sin], but averting [people] from the way of Allah and disbelief in Him and [preventing access to] al-Masjid al-Haram and the expulsion of its people therefrom are greater [evil] in the sight of Allah. And fitnah is greater than killing.”
And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able.
And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever – for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally.
218 Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah – those expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Koran 2:217-218
Muhammad Allah commands Muhammad to: “Say” or “Recite”. This means that this passage is addressed to Muhammad, not to all people. Thus, this passage can’t be in the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah. As it is addressed to Muhammad, in his time and place, his context, this also means that this passage is locked to Muhammad’s context and can’t be in the context-free, perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah with all its perfect words. Thus, this passage is part of Muhammad’s recitation, Muhammad’s Koran, which means Islamic doctrine and Islam are incoherent and false, meaning Allah is incoherent, imaginary, fictional, and false.
Be sure to read Tafsir Ibr Kathir, 2:217 about this evil banditry planned by Muhammad and his companions against the innocent caravans and innocent people of Mecca, Muhammad’s own relatives.
Note that while Muhammad and his companions planned this banditry ahead of time, Muhammad is reacting to the questions that came back from the Jews and polytheists, who were outraged at Muhammad’s obviously evil banditry. Muhammad forgot to prepare ahead of time, to utter these words first, before doing his evil. Instead, he utters these evil excuses after doing evil to excuse his doing evil. Muhammad tells his bandits to kill innocent people for Islam, for blood washed booty, stolen from the innocent.

These two verses are Muhammad’s excuses and justification for doing evil, for murdering innocent people, for violating the peaceful sanctuary of Mecca, for stealing from innocent people. As such the best replacement is: “”, the empty sentence.
