What are we?

Let’s start with the first moment we exist:

Father’s sperm fusing with mother’s egg, producing a new human being, you, I, and all of us.

See Khan Academy, Egg, sperm, and fertilization for a more detailed explanation of what we know about this.

What happens next is that the fertilised egg grows and divides repeatedly, then implants in the uterus:

La Jolla IVF, Blastocyst Transfer

This is a very complex process, which is shown here, Khan Academy, Human embryogenesis. This video shows another view of the same long and difficult to understand, process:

Medical embryology – Difficult concepts of early development

The whole process of Gestation continues along with the Maternal changes in pregnancy, then labour and childbirth:

If you’re pregnant, stay in touch with doctors and medical help.
Before, after, and during pregnancy

Note that none of this process has any magic or miracles involved. For more details, see the Khan Academy for various courses showing what we know.

Onotogeny

Let’s compare this with what Muhammad asserts in his recitation, his Koran:

And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay.

Koran 23:12

Muhammad commits shirk with: “We”, “Us” or “Our”, placing Allah as a companion to himself, showing that Allah is incoherent, imaginary, and fictional, and so Islam is incoherent with monotheism, thus Islam is contradictory and false.

Worse, this is a restatement of the creation of Adam from clay (or dust) in Genesis.

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

NIV Genesis 2:7

So Koran 23:12 has nothing to do with pregnancy, it’s just a repetitive restatement of the Story of Adam. Let’s carry on with next two verses:

13 Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging.

Koran 23:13

Muhammad commits shirk with: “We”, “Us” or “Our”, placing Allah as a companion to himself, showing that Allah is incoherent, imaginary, and fictional, and so Islam is incoherent with monotheism, thus Islam is contradictory and false.

The “firm lodging” is the woman’s womb and ignores her contribution, the egg and her genetic “code”, DNA, etc. This concept of a “lodging” in a woman, comes from Plato and Aristotle, who thought that the sperm contained everything that grew inside the woman. This is Preformationism.

Pythagoras is one of the earliest thinkers credited with ideas about the origin of form in the biological production of offspring. It is said that he originated “spermism”, the doctrine that fathers contribute the essential characteristics of their offspring while mothers contribute only a material substrate. Aristotle accepted and elaborated this idea,…

Preformationism

As you can see, this idea of Muhammad comes from earlier Greek scholars, and most likely came to Muhammad through his doctor companion.

How does Muhammad describe the creation of a baby? In the hadith:

Narrated Abdullah:

Allah’s Messenger, the truthful and truly-inspired, said:

Each one of you collected in the womb of his mother for forty days, and then turns into a clot for an equal period (of forty days) and turns into a piece of flesh for a similar period (of forty days) and then Allah sends an angel and orders him to write four things, i.e., his provision, his age, and whether he will be of the wretched or the blessed (in the Hereafter).

Then the soul is breathed into him.

And by Allah, a person among you (or a man) may do deeds of the people of the Fire till there is only a cubit or an arm-breadth distance between him and the Fire, but then that writing (which Allah has ordered the angel to write) precedes, and he does the deeds of the people of Paradise and enters it; and a man may do the deeds of the people of Paradise till there is only a cubit or two between him and Paradise, and then that writing precedes and he does the deeds of the people of the Fire and enters it.

Sahih al-Bukhari 6594

All nonsense and incoherent.

In the Koran, twice, really badly:

O People, if you should be in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] indeed, We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, and then from a lump of flesh, formed and unformed – that We may show you. And We settle in the wombs whom We will for a specified term, then We bring you out as a child, and then [We develop you] that you may reach your [time of] maturity.

Extract, Koran 22:5

Note that there’s no need to repeat the “same” story twice, particularly when Muhammad couldn’t get either right.

14 Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.

Koran 23:14

Another corrupt repetition with corrupt variations that are incoherent with the legend of Adam and Eve:

It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason.

Koran 40:67

Another corrupt repetition with corrupt variation, that is out of order, is:

75:36 Does man think that he will be left neglected?

37 Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?

38 Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]

39 And made of him two mates, the male and the female.

40 Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?

Koran 75:36-40

Another shorter summary, where Muhammad forgets about Adam and Eve:

96:1 Recite in the name of your Lord who created –

2 Created man from a clinging substance.

Koran 96:1-2

Note the many false assertions by Muhammad in Koran 23:14:

  1. We made
  2. sperm-drop
  3. into a clinging clot
  4. We made
  5. the clot into a lump [of flesh]
  6. We made
  7. the lump
  8. bones
  9. We covered
  10. the bones with flesh
  11. We developed
  12. him into another creation

Note the 5 assertions of shirk by Muhammad (We), placing Allah as a companion to himself, showing that Allah is incoherent, imaginary and fictional, and so Islam is incoherent with monotheism, thus Islam is contradictory and false. Note that all of these assertions are proven false. Muhammad never created babies as divine being. Allah even if real, doesn’t create babies.

The “sperm-drop” is misnamed by the translator. This refers to the sexual emission of sperm by the father. As shown above we know this is merely ONE sperm, not a “sperm-drop”, that is involved in the fertilisation of the egg.

This “clinging clot” never happens.

The lump never happens. It’s not a “chewed lump” either. Note the addition by the translator to help make sense of the nonsense by Muhammad.

Turning the lump into bones never happens. Instead, the baby’s bones are formed inside the baby’s flesh. There’s no covering of the bones.

And “him” is remarkably sexist when we all know little female babies, called “girls” are born, and even Muhammad seemed to father 2 at least, while marrying a girl, though these two girls are likely to be fathered by another man.

The “another creation” is obviously nonsensical, as we know the process from fertilisation to birth is a continual process of growth, cellular division, targeted cell death, and eventual birth.

All these false assertions combined with repeated shirk show that Allah is imaginary, fictional, false, a dead, broken stone idol with no power to correctly describe the formation of humans.

But, infidel, it is “alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot)”. That’s an appeal to definition, a logical fallacy. Worse the embryo is never a leech, never a blood clot, and it’s never suspended. Nor does the embryo ever look like a leech. Here are some real leeches for you to see for yourself:

Real leeches. Embryos never look like these.
Human embryo 7 weeks after conception by GoldenBear, CC BY-SA 3.0

Note that 7 weeks after conception, the bones form inside the body and the umbilical cord that leads to the placenta in the womb. Obviously not like a “leech”.

Worse, we know this comes from Muhammad’s bad, REALLY bad, copying of Galen’s text (note the bold words):

But let us take the account back again to the first conformation of the animal, and in order to make our account orderly and clear, let us divide the creation of the foetus overall into four periods of time. The first is that in which. as is seen both in abortions and in dissection, the form of the semen prevails. At this time, Hippocrates too, the all-marvellous, does not yet call the conformation of the animal a foetus; as we heard just now in the case of semen voided in the sixth day, he still calls it semen. But when it has been filled with blood and heart, brain and liver are still unarticulated and unshaped yet have by now a certain solidarity and considerable size, this is the second period; the substance of the foetus has the form of flesh and no longer the form of semen. Accordingly you would find that Hippocrates too no longer calls such a form semen but, as was said, foetus. The third period follows on this, when, as was said, it is possible to see the three ruling parts clearly and a kind of outline, a silhouette, as it were, of all the other parts. You will see the conformation of the three ruling parts more clearly, that of the parts of the stomach more dimly, and much more still, that of the limbs. Later on they form “twigs”, as Hippocrates expressed it, indicating by the term their similarity to branches. The fourth and final period is at the stage when all the parts in the limbs have been differentiated; and at this part Hippocrates the marvellous no longer calls the foetus an embryo only, but already a child, too when he says that it jerks and moves as an animal now fully formed.

Corpus Medicorum Graecorum: Galeni de Semine ‘Galen: On Semen’ Greek text with English trans. Phillip de Lacy, Akademic Verlag, 1992, section I:9:1-10 pp. 92-95, 101

No miracle. Just Muhammad copy/pasting BADLY the text of Galen, from his doctor companion.

But, but, infidel, Dr Moore! Did you know that Dr Moore was paid by the Saudis, and deceived by the Saudis? And worse for Islam, he avoided all connection with Islam and he removed sections of his book on Embryology, relating to the nonsense of Islam. He stayed as a Christian and didn’t convert to Islam, because he knew he was deceived. Dr Moore’s assertions from the ’80s have long been debunked repeatedly, see: Embryology in the Qur’an. Worse, Galen and other Greek scholars knew far more about embryology than Muhammad, see: A History of Embryology (1959), by Joseph Needham. And it’s known that one of Muhammad’s companions was a doctor who quite plainly passed on what he was taught, to Muhammad.

A very detailed refutation of Muhammad’s embryology is here: ‘ALAQA (CLOT?!?) AND OTHER EMBRYOLOGICAL STAGES IN THE QUR’AN.

Mother with a nursing baby

Now compare a mother with a nursing baby. Why didn’t Muhammad use the comparison of a “leech” to breastfeeding a baby or even better with wet nursing an orphan child, you know, like Muhammad?

Definitely not a leech or clinging clot.
