Muhammad – True Dreams?

Aisha claims in the hadith that Muhammad had true dreams:

Narrated Aisha:

The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah’s Messenger was in the form of true dreams. The Angel came to him and said, “Read, in the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists), has created man a clot. Read! And your Lord is Most Generous” (96:1-3)

Sahih al-Bukhari 4955

Again:

Narrated Aisha:

The commencement of (the Divine Inspirations to) Allah’s Messenger was in the form of true dreams. The Angel came to him and said, “Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created all exists), has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is Most Generous, Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. (96:1-4)

Sahih al-Bukhari 4956

Cave

What was Muhammad’s “true dream”?

Narrated Aisha (the mother of the faithful believers):
The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah’s Messenger was in the form of good dreams which came true like bright daylight, and then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food likewise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, “I do not know how to read.”

Excerpt, Sahih al-Bukhari 3

Again:

Narrated Aisha:

(the wife of the Prophet) The commencement (of the Divine Inspiration) to Allah’s Messenger was in the form of true dreams in his sleep, for he never had a dream but it turned out to be true and clear as the bright daylight. Then he began to like seclusions, so he used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship Allah continuously for many nights before going back to his family to take the necessary provision (of food) for the stay. He come back to (his wife) Khadija again to take his provision (of food) likewise, till one day he received the Guidance while he was in the cave of Hira. An Angel came to him and asked him to read. Allah’s Messenger replied, “I do not know how to read.”

Excerpt, Sahih al-Bukhari 4953

Finally:

Narrated Aisha:

The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah’s Messenger was in the form of good righteous (true) dreams in his sleep. He never had a dream but that it came true like bright day light. He used to go in seclusion (the cave of) Hira where he used to worship (Allah Alone) continuously for many (days) nights. He used to take with him the journey food for that (stay) and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food like-wise again for another period to stay, till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him in it and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, “I do not know how to read.”

Excerpt, Sahih al-Bukhari 6982

Was Muhammad’s dream “good” and “true”? Muhammad is famous for being unable to read.

The Prophet replied, “I do not know how to read.”

Hadith

If we regard Muhammad as true, how did Jibril not know this fact, being an “angel” of Allah? Or perhaps Muhammad was lying, being the helper of Waraqa, who was translating the Bible into Arabic and who needed a scribe?

Muhammad was assaulted repeatedly by Jibril:

The Prophet added, “The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more.

Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more.

Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me…

his neck muscles twitching with terror

“I fear that something may happen to me.”

Excerpts, hadith above.
Cover me, cover me!

Being repeatedly assaulted, in terror and fear, isn’t good.

What other “true dreams” did Muhammad have afterwards according to Aisha?

Narrated Aisha:

But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while and the Prophet became so sad as we have heard that he intended several times to throw himself from the tops of high mountains and every time he went up the top of a mountain in order to throw himself down, Gabriel would appear before him and say, “O Muhammad! You are indeed Allah’s Messenger in truth” whereupon his heart would become quiet and he would calm down and would return home. And whenever the period of the coming of the inspiration used to become long, he would do as before, but when he used to reach the top of a mountain, Gabriel would appear before him and say to him what he had said before.

(Ibn `Abbas said regarding the meaning of: ‘He it is that Cleaves the daybreak (from the darkness)’ (6:96) that Al-Asbah. means the light of the sun during the day and the light of the moon at night).

Excerpt, Sahih al-Bukhari 6982

Note that Allah didn’t speak to Muhammad while he was awake and contemplating suicide, repeatedly, nor was Muhammad asleep. Or did Muhammad awake after these “dreams”? What’s Muhammad’s judgement?

Narrated Abu Qatada:

The Prophet said, “A true good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 6984

It seems like these bad and false dreams come from Satan, according to Muhammad, who would seem to be the expert on this:

53:19 So have you considered al-Lat and al-‘Uzza? 20 And Manat, the third – the other one?

Satan tempted Muhammad to utter the following line:
These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for.

Koran 53:19-20

Muhammad (as “We”) refers to this incident here:

22:52 And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding].

But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses.

And Allah is Knowing and Wise.

53 [That is] so He may make what Satan throws in a trial for those within whose hearts is disease and those hard of heart.

And indeed, the wrongdoers are in extreme dissension.

54 And so those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and [therefore] believe in it, and their hearts humbly submit to it.

And indeed is Allah the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path.

Koran 22:52-54

Muhammad failed to follow his own advice:

And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allāh.

Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing.

Koran 7:200

Narrated Abu Qatada:

The Prophet said, “A good dream that comes true is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan, so if anyone of you sees a bad dream, he should seek refuge with Allah from Satan and should spit on the left, for the bad dream will not harm him.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 6986

Was that the only dreams Muhammad had?

Harvesting Dates from date trees

Narrated Abu Musa:

The Prophet said, “In a dream I saw myself migrating from Mecca to a place having plenty of date trees. I thought that it was Al-Yamama or Hajar, but it came to be Medina i.e. Yathrib.

In the same dream I saw myself moving a sword and its blade got broken. It came to symbolize the defeat which the Muslims suffered from, on the Day of Uhud.

I moved the sword again, and it became normal as before, and that was the symbol of the victory Allah bestowed upon Muslims and their gathering together.

I saw cows in my dream, and by Allah, that was a blessing, and they symbolized the believers on the Day of Uhud. And the blessing was the good Allah bestowed upon us and the reward of true belief which Allah gave us after the day of Badr.

Sahih al-Bukhari 3622

This is obviously post hoc. Here’s where this “true dream” is mentioned:

At that time the Prophet was in Mecca, and he said to the Muslims, “In a dream I have been shown your migration place, a land of date palm trees, between two mountains, the two stony tracts.”

So, some people migrated to Medina, and most of those people who had previously migrated to the land of Ethiopia, returned to Medina.

Abu Bakr also prepared to leave for Medina, but Allah’s Messenger said to him, “Wait for a while, because I hope that I will be allowed to migrate also.”

Excerpt, Sahih al-Bukhari 3905

Did Muhammad have any true dreams?

Valley

A green and pleasant valley.

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar:

The Prophet had a dream in the last portion of the night when he was sleeping at Dhul-Hulaifa.

(In the dream) it was said to him, “You are in a blessed Batha’ (i.e., valley).

Sahih al-Bukhari 7345

The location is in a valley. As to whether or not it’s blessed, that’s up to the people who live there, 1400 years later.

Muhammad reveals his paedophilia to Aisha with:

Narrated Aisha:

Allah’s Messenger said (to me), “You have been shown to me twice in (my) dreams. A man was carrying you in a silken cloth and said to me, ‘This is your wife.’ I uncovered it; and behold, it was you. I said to myself, ‘If this dream is from Allah, He will cause it to come true.’ “

Sahih al-Bukhari 5078

This didn’t come true. Obviously, this dream was from Satan.

Plague as a Black Woman

Muhammad’s racism exposed:

Narrated Abdullah bin Umar:

concerning the dream of the Prophet in Medina:

The Prophet said, “I saw (in a dream) a black woman with unkempt hair going out of Medina and settling at Mahai’a. I interpreted that as (a symbol of) the epidemic of Medina being transferred to Mahai’a, namely, Al-Juhfa.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 7039

Did it come true? The epidemic isn’t a black woman. Muhammad already knew that diseases spread through people, warning his men not to go to a plague, and not to leave a plagued area they were in:

Narrated Saud:

The Prophet said, “If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5078

Possession

Three Heads of Muhammad, Moon (Allah), Child, Demon

This dream reveals that Muhammad was possessed by Jibril:

Narrated Samura:

The Prophet said:

Last night I saw (in a dream) two men coming to me.

One of them said:

The person who kindles the fire is Malik, the gate-keeper of the (Hell) Fire, and I am Gabriel, and this is Michael.

Sahih al-Bukhari 3236

For more, see: Muhammad the Three.

Tree House

Narrated Samura:

The Prophet said, “Last night two men came to me (in a dream) and made me ascend a tree and then admitted me into a better and superior house, better of which I have never seen.

One of them said, ‘This house is the house of martyrs.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2791

Muhammad never climbed into a tree house or went to Paradise or Heaven.

I suspect that Muhammad was thinking of a bird cage instead of a tree house as he would have never seen a real tree house and couldn’t even make a house.

Birdcage.
One of Allah’s martyrs feeding from the hand of Allah.

Meeting Abraham

Narrated Samura:

Allah’s Messenger said, “Two persons came to me at night (in dream) (and took me along with them). We passed by a tall man who was so tall that I was not able to see his head and that person was Abraham.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 3354

Muhammad never met Abraham.

Muhammad was a false prophet, for a false god, Allah, for a false religion, Islam, without even a false book, the Koran.
