Moon Splitting?

Hadith about the miracles of Muhammad.

What is the “Moon Splitting”?

The splitting of the moon is a miracle in Muslim tradition attributed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad. It is derived from the Quran, Surah Al-Qamar verses 54:1–2, and mentioned by Muslim traditions such as the Asbab al-nuzul (context of revelation). Some Muslim commentators, particularly from the Medieval period, interpret the event as a literal physical splitting of the Moon by Muhammad, while some others identify it as an event that will happen at judgment day. Others consider it to have been an optical illusion.

Did the “Moon Splitting” Happen?

The “Moon Splitting” event did happen, it’s mentioned in the Koran:

54:1 The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].

2 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, “Passing magic.”

Koran 54:1-2

The Moon Splitting was likely the annular solar eclipse that occurred on January 27, 632.

Note the present tense of “the moon has split”, not future. Thus Muhammad was a false prophet.

What actually was the “Moon Splitting”?

A solar eclipse:

Sun and Moon “crashed” together, or a solar eclipse

Hadith for the “Moon Splitting” or Eclipse

Notice the split, darkness outside and darkness inside (2 parts), with the Sun shining over the rim of the Moon. This eclipse happened long ago, and only frightened Muhammad, as is made clear in several hadith:

The sun eclipsed and Allah’s Messenger offered the eclipse prayer and said, “I have been shown the Hellfire (now) and I never saw a worse and horrible sight than the sight I have seen today.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 431

Muhammad: “I never saw a worse and horrible sight than the sight I have seen today.”

But, Infidel, Muhammad saw “the Hellfire”!!! Indeed, that’s the Ring of Fire:

During this phase of the solar eclipse, an annular shape (ring-shape) is formed around the Moon, hence people on Earth can see a “ring of fire” being formed in the sky.

The “Ibrahim” here is supposedly Muhammad’s dead son:

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Isma’il with the same chain of transmitters and in the hadith narrated by Sufyan and Waki’ (the words are):

“The sun eclipsed on the day when Ibrahim died, and the people said: It has eclipsed on the death of Ibrahim.”

Sahih Muslim 911c

We were with the Prophet and the sun became eclipsed. He got up and went to the masjid, dragging his garment in haste. The people stood with him and he prayed two rak’ahs as they usually prayed. When the eclipse ended he addressed us and said “The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah (SWT), with which He strikes fear into His slaves. They do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. If you see either of them being eclipsed, then pray and supplicate until it removed it from you.”

Sunan an-Nasa’i 1502

Notice the admission of fear in Muhammad: “…strikes fear into His slaves.” The Muslims around Muhammad were not frightened.

Notice: “he came out alarmed” – Muhammad was alarmed and was not forewarned by imaginary Allah about the eclipse.

Allah’s Messenger said: “The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse because of the death of someone but Allah frightens His devotees with them.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 1048

Note that Muhammad admits his fright with: “Allah frightens His devotees with them [eclipses].”

The sun was eclipsed at the time of the Messenger of Allah, and he came out alarmed, dragging his lower garment, until he reached the mosque. He continued to perform prayer until the eclipse was over, then he said: “Some people claim that the sun and moon only become eclipsed because of the death of a great leader. That is not so. The sun and the moon do not become eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. When Allah manifests Himself to anything in His creation, it humbles itself before Him.”

Vol. 1, Book 5, Hadith 1262

The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah and he rushed out, dragging his cloak until he came to the masjid. He continued leading us in prayer until the eclipse ended. When it ended, he said: “People claim that the eclipse of the sun and moon only happen when a great man dies, but that is not so. Eclipses of the sun and the moon do not happen for the death or birth of anyone, but they are signs from Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. When Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, manifests Himself to anything of His creation, it humbles itself before Him, so if you see that then pray like the last obligatory prayer you did before that.”

Sunan an-Nasa’i 1485

Muhammad was not prepared: “he rushed out, dragging his cloak”. Note that this is a solar eclipse, the Sun being blocked by the Moon. Thus Muhammad shows that Allah is the Moon, the Full Moon. And contrary to being humbled as Muhammad said, this is merely the shadow of the Moon upon the Earth, the Sun’s light is still all around outside of that shadow of the Moon. Notice how Muhammad convinces himself this eclipse is a sign from Allah: “they are signs from Allah, the Mighty and Sublime.”

The Messenger of Allah said: “‘The sun and moon are two signs of Allah (SWT), the Most High, and they do not become eclipsed for death or birth of anyone, rather Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime, strikes fear into His slaves through them.”

Sunan an-Nasa’i 1459

Muhammad admits: “[Eclipses] strikes fear into His [Allah] slaves [Muhammad] through them.”

Verily the sun and the moon are the two signs among the signs of Allah by which He frightens his servants and they do not eclipse on account of the death of any one of the people. So when you see anything about them, observe prayer, supplicate Allah till it is cleared from you.

Sahih Muslim 911 a

Muhammad admits fright with: “frightens his servants”. None of the other Muslims were frightened.

The Apostle of Allah was one day (i. e. on the day when the sun eclipsed) so perturbed that he (in haste) took hold of the outer garment (of a female member of his family) and it was later on that his (own) cloak was sent to him.

Sahih Muslim 906 a

Muhammad was “so perturbed” that he took the wrong cloak with him in his haste – no warning from Allah or Jibril. Thus Allah and Jibril are false.

The sun eclipsed and the Prophet got up, being afraid that it might be the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment). He went to the Mosque and offered the prayer with the longest Qiyam, bowing and prostration that I had ever seen him doing. Then he said, “These signs which Allah sends do not occur because of the life or death of somebody, but Allah makes His worshipers afraid by them. So when you see anything thereof, proceed to remember Allah, invoke Him and ask for His forgiveness.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 1059

Muhammad admits: “afraid by them.”

He started weeping and blowing during his prostration and said: “Lord, You did not tell me that You would do that while I am asking You for forgiveness; You did not tell me that You would do that while I was still among them.”

Sunan an-Nasa’i 1496

Note Muhammad’s admission that he was not told by “Allah”. Allah didn’t know, as he’s not a real god.

…due to the intense fear he began taking heavy breaths and crying, and began pleading to the Almighty Allah that “Allah, it is only You that have promised that when these people make istighfaar there will be no punishment.”

Book 44, Hadith 307

Muhammad felt: “intense fear” and “he began taking heavy breaths and crying, and began pleading”.

This hadith refers to Koran 8:33, which has:

But Allah would not punish them while you, [O Muhammad], are among them, and Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.

Koran 8:33

What did the “Moon Splitting” look like?

During the lifetime of Allah’s Messenger the moon was split into two parts; one part remained over the mountain, and the other part went beyond the mountain. On that, Allah’s Messenger said, “Witness this miracle.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 4864

We were along with Allah’s Messenger at Mina, that moon was split up into two. One of its parts was behind the mountain and the other one was on this side of the mountain. Allah’s Messenger said to us: “Bear witness to this.”

Sahih Muslim 2800 b

Narrated Muhammad bin Jubair bin Mut’im from his father who said: “The moon was split during the time of the Messenger of Allah until it became as two sections, one above this mountain and one above that mountain. So they said: ‘Muhammad has cast a spell upon us.’ Some of them said: ‘If he could cast a spell upon us, he can not cast a spell upon all of the people.'”

Vol. 5, Book 44, Hadith 3289

Something like this:

Moon peeking out between volcano and mountain

Cheraman Perumals

But, Infidel, this is about Cheraman Perumals! Indeed, let’s look at that:

According to the Cheraman Juma Mosque and various narratives:[8][16][17] “Once a Cheraman Perumal probably named Ravi Varma[17] was walking with his queen in the palace, when he witnessed the splitting of the moon. Shocked by this, he asked his astronomers to note down the exact time of the splitting. Then, when some Arab merchants visited his palace, he asked them about this incident. Their answers led the King to Mecca, where he met Islamic prophet Muhammad and converted to Islam. Muhammad named him Tajuddin or Thajuddin or Thiya-aj-Addan meaning “crown of faith”.[8][16][18][19][20] The king then wrote letters to his kingdom to accept Islam and follow the teachings of Malik bin Deenar“.[21][22][16]Al-Tabari of 9th century in his Firdousul Hikma and Ferishta in his Tarikh Ferishta agree with this.[23][24]

Legend of Cheraman Perumals, Wikipedia

So according to this legend, the story of the moon splitting or Solar Eclipse, comes from “Ravi Varma”, and then Muhammad heard about this and put it into Koran 54:1. Thus this shows that Koran 54:1 comes from “Ravi Varman” not from Allah. Thus showing Allah, Islam, Muhammad, and Koran are false.

What the “Moon Splitting” wasn’t

The “Moon Splitting” was not an actual splitting of the Moon. This is a Muslim hoax:

Lunar Rille – Rima Ariadaeus, Apollo 10, 1969, NASA

After Apollo mission photographs were published of Rima Ariadaeus, the 300 km-long rift line on the surface of the Moon, it was suggested by Muslims on some internet sites that this was result of the splitting mentioned in the Quran. In 2010, NASA scientist Brad Bailey was asked about this and replied “My recommendation is to not believe everything you read on the internet. Peer-reviewed papers are the only scientifically valid sources of information out there. No current scientific evidence reports that the Moon was split into two (or more) parts and then reassembled at any point in the past.”

Muhammad was a false prophet, for a false god, Allah, for a false religion, Islam, without even a false book, the Koran.
