Koran – Forgive Us Our Sins

In the Koran, there’s this phrase: “Forgive us our sins”, which seems,… odd:

Those who say, “Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire,”

Koran 3:16

And their words were not but that they said, “Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

Koran 3:147

Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad] calling to faith, [saying], ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous.

Koran 3:193

They said, “O our father, ask for us forgiveness of our sins; indeed, we have been sinners.”

Koran 12:97

Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allāh is better and more enduring.”

Koran 20:73

Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers.”

Koran 26:51

Why is it odd? Because of the Lord’s Prayer:

Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
10 May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
    as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today the food we need,[a]
12 and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,[b]
but rescue us from the evil one.[c]

14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

NLT Matthew 6:9-15

Muhammad was a false prophet, for a false god, Allah, for a false religion, Islam, without even a false book, the Koran.
