84:16 So I swear by the twilight glow 17 And [by] the night and what it envelops 18 And [by] the moon when it becomes full
19 [That] you will surely embark upon [i.e., experience] state after state (i.e., various stages, both in this life and in the Hereafter.).
20 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 21 And when the Qur’ān is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?
22 But those who have disbelieved deny, 23 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.
24 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 25 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
Koran 84:16-25
Notice the “I” in the text. Who is this “I”? The “I” that swears by:
- twilight glow;
- night;
- what it [night] envelops;
- full moon.
All these parts are the shadow of our Earth, upon its own surface.

Obviously, it can’t be Allah swearing on these tiny things, vastly smaller than our many moons:

Vastly smaller than our Sun:

Vastly smaller than our Solar System:

Vastly smaller than our galaxy:

Vastly smaller than our galaxy cluster:

Vastly smaller than our universe:

Obviously, the “I” is Muhammad speaking. He’s swearing by things that seem large to him, to pretend that he’s speaking the truth, when he’s telling lies and nonsense, as usual. Any real god has no need to swear on small things, or even to swear at all. Only Muhammad has this need because he’s telling lies, lies and nonsense and wants to be believed. So instead of the words of a real god, you know you are reading the words of a mere human, and thus, Muhammad is false, thus Allah is an idol that doesn’t speak, thus Islam is false.
Interestingly, the scholars of Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 84:16, have several different opinions of what “twilight glow” or “Ash-Shafaq” is:
Ash-Shafaq is the redness (in the sky).
Ash-Shafaq is the whiteness.
Ash-Shafaq is the redness that appears from the setting of sun until the time of the last Isha’ (when it is completely dark).
Ash-Shafaq is the remaining light of the sun and its redness at the beginning of the night until it is close to actual nighttime (darkness).
Ash-Shafaq is that what is between Al-Maghrib and Al-`Isha’.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 84:16
There’s also confusion over what “envelops” or “Wasaqa” is with:
What it gathers.
The stars and animals it gathers.
What it drives into due to its darkness, because when it is nighttime everything goes to its home.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 84:16
Similarly, for “full” or “Ittasaqa”:
When it comes together and becomes complete.
When it comes together and becomes full.
When it completes its cycle.
These statements refer to its light when it is completed and becomes full
Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 84:16
All these alternative explanations, showing the incompetence of Muhammad, and so Allah, showing Allah is Muhammad, Muhammad is Allah, and so the Koran and Islam are false.
And after all that swearing, Muhammad comes up with a truism: “experience state after state” – the state of childhood, youth, adulthood and old age. Meaningless, nonsensical, and of no worth at all. Notice how the scholars differ over this, in Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 84:16, with:
“Stage after stage.” Weaned after he was breast feeding, and an old man after he was a young man.
“Stage after stage.” Ease after difficulty, difficulty after ease, wealth after poverty, poverty after wealth, health after sickness, and sickness after health.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 84:16
This is why I selected stages of age, as the other scholarly opinion is not absolute. Of course, this is not to imply that the first scholarly opinion is absolute either.

Continuing with Koran 84:20-21:
20 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 21 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?
Koran 84:20-21
This is a rhetorical question, addressed to Muhammad. That’s why the translators have to add in “[to Allah]”. Who are the Quraysh meant to prostrate to? Not Allah, their idol, but Muhammad, the false prophet. See for yourself when I remove the translator additions:
20 So what is with them they do not believe, 21 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not prostrate?
[Translator additions] removed, Koran 84:20-21
Who is in front of the Quraysh? Muhammad. Who is reciting the “Qur’an”? Muhammad. Who do the Quraysh not prostrate to? Muhammad. Not Allah. Muhammad desired worship of himself and prostration to himself, not to Allah (which the translators try to imply). Thus, Muhammad shows he’s a false prophet, ranting here in his Koran, showing that Allah, Islam, Muhammad and the Koran are false.
But, Infidel, it’s a translation issue! But I’ve removed the translator additions.
But, but, Infidel, it’s in Arabic! That means that the Koran is local to Muhammad, and thus Muhammad, Allah, Islam and the Koran are false.
But, Infidel, we have to prostrate to Allah! The pagan Quraysh already did that, to Allah, their IDOL and to his daughters, IDOLS, their other gods, IDOLS, and the pet lion, IDOL. This is why Allah is an idol, he’s the “father” of idols, “husband” to an idol and “friends” with idols.
The rest of the chapter is false threats and false promises, showing the inability of Muhammad to communicate, convince and demonstrate Allah, Paradise and Fire, thus showing they’re all false.
But, Infidel, they will be punished by Allah in the Fire! Muhammad, his Muslims, his tribe, his enemies and his friends, all are dust in the desert for 1400 years. Nothing has happened for 1400 years.
The best replacement for this passage is: “”, the empty sentence.
