Koran 14:35-41

14:35 And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, “My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. 36 My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me – then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me – indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful. 37 Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful. 38 Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allah on the earth or in the heaven. 39 Praise to Allah, who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication. 40 My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. 41 Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”

Koran 14:35-41

These few verses are all the story of Abraham there is in this chapter. There’s more stories supposedly about Abraham in Stories of Abraham.

“Treasury” in Petra, Jordan, one of the “high” buildings

This story has no comparable story in Torah or Bible as far as I can see. Instead “Abraham’s” prayer here seems like an invention of Muhammad, role-playing as Abraham, while preaching a rudimentary prototype of Islam, connected to Mecca or Petra, Jordan. Notice the clumsy construction of verse 36, which demands that “Abraham’s” followers follow “Abraham” not “My Lord”. In Judaism and Christianity, the believers follow YHWH or God and Jesus not the prophets. Recall that Abraham settled in Canaan. Not in Mecca. Not in Petra, Jordan.

Kaaba? Petra, Jordan

In verse 37 “Abraham” talks about settling descendants in “an uncultivated valley” near the Kaaba. This fits with Petra, Jordan as Mecca, and “Abraham” as Muhammad. Abraham’s descendants were herders of sheep, not pickers of fruit: “provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful.”

Worse, this passage is contradicted in Koran 34:43-45 with Muhammad admitting there was no messenger before himself. For more, see: Story of Abraham.

Muhammad role-playing as Abraham has no place in the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah, thus this shows that Allah is false, Muhammad was a false prophet, Islam is false and the Koran a record of Muhammad’s lies and nonsense.

The best replacement for this passage is: “”, the empty sentence.
