Koran 8:36-37

8:36 Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah.

So they will spend it; then it will be for them a regret; then they will be overcome.

And those who have disbelieved – unto Hell they will be gathered.

37 [This is] so that Allah may distinguish the wicked from the good and place the wicked some of them upon others and heap them all together and put them into Hell.

It is those who are the losers.

Koran 8:36-37

Muhammad spoke about Allah in the third person. This means this passage is not the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah. Thus, Allah is false, imaginary, and fictional, which means Islamic doctrine and Islam are nonsensical and false.

Verse 37 is an appeal to fear fallacy. A real god has no need to use fallacies or appeal to fear.

Let’s see what the context of this verse is, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 8:36:

The Quraysh suffered defeat at Badr and their forces went back to Makkah, while Abu Sufyan went back with the caravan intact. This is when `Abdullah bin Abi Rabi`ah, `Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl, Safwan bin Umayyah and other men from Quraysh who lost their fathers, sons or brothers in Badr, went to Abu Sufyan bin Harb. They said to him, and to those among the Quraysh who had wealth in that caravan, “O people of Quraysh! Muhammad has grieved you and killed the chiefs among you. Therefore, help us with this wealth so that we can fight him, it may be that we will avenge our losses.” They agreed.

Muhammad bin Ishaq said, “This Ayah was revealed about them

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 8:36

As you can see, this passage is locked to Muhammad’s context, his time and his place. As such it has no place in the perfect words of the perfect Qur’an from perfect Allah. Because it’s locked to Muhammad’s context, this means that Allah is local, incoherent with creating the universe and so false. Which means Allah is incoherent, imaginary, fictional and false. Because of this, Islamic Fate and Islam are nonsensical and false.

This view of the scholars is confirmed repeatedly:

…this Ayah was revealed about Abu Sufyan and his spending money in Uhud to fight the Messenger of Allah. Ad-Dahhak said that this Ayah was revealed about the idolators of Badr. In any case, the Ayah is general, even though there was a specific incident that accompanied its revelation.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 8:36

But, Infidel, the “Ayah is general”! OK let’s deal with that objection. Let’s look at the last verse:

37 [This is] so that Allah may distinguish the wicked from the good

Koran 8:37

What does Allah distinguish?

spend their wealth

Koran 8:36

But, Infidel, Allah sees the hearts of men and knows who are disbelievers! So, you disagree with Muhammad then?

But, but, Infidel, the disbelievers, like you, spend their wealth on attacking Islam! So, your Allah’s Muhammad’s threat is better expressed as:

8:36 Allah puts the dead disbelievers in Hell.

37 Allah puts the dead believers in Heaven.

Koran 8:36-37

But, Infidel, you forgot the wealth and spending part! There’s no need for it.

But, but, Infidel, the wealth spending has to be included! Then you’re back to agreeing with Muhammad.

But, but, but, Infidel, the wealth spending there shows who’s a disbeliever! I agree.

What, Infidel?! Muhammad couldn’t determine who was a believer and who was a disbeliever. Muhammad pretended to be Allah and lacked the omniscience to discern who was a believer and who was a disbeliever, except for noting those who spent against Muhammad and who accepted the payment to oppose Muhammad. That’s why: “Allah Muhammad may distinguish the wicked from the good”.

As shown, Muhammad is pretending to be Allah and this pretence gives him no power at all. Muhammad lacks the omniscience and omnipotence of a real god. Allah is shown to be blind, powerless, incoherent, contradictory, imaginary, fictional and false. This means Islamic fate and Islam are nonsensical and false.

As such, the best replacement for this passage is: “”, the empty sentence.
